Find your place around Lewisville Lake.
Looking a little south or north of the Lake Cities? Flower Mound, Highland Village, Lewisville and Denton each offer something different, from lakeside parks and trails to a historic square. I've called the Lake Cities home for over 23 years, and I help buyers and sellers across southern Denton County. Let's find what works for you.

Flower Mound

Flower Mound sits along Grapevine Lake, with dozens of parks tied together by trails like the Pink Evening Primrose Trail. Twin Coves Park on the north shore has cabins, a boat ramp and trails, and The River Walk at Central Park gives you a walkable spot for dinner and events.
Homes range from established neighborhoods with mature trees to newer master-planned communities and acreage on the west side. Most of town is in Lewisville ISD, but some west-side neighborhoods are zoned to Northwest ISD or Argyle ISD. Some newer communities also carry MUD or PID taxes, so I compare the full monthly payment, not just the price.

Highland Village
Highland Village is a smaller city on the shore of Lewisville Lake. Doubletree Ranch Park is the centerpiece, with a splash pad, fishing pier and walking loop. The City Trail and Market Trail connect neighborhoods to The Shops at Highland Village, so you can walk or bike to dinner.
Most of the city is built out, so you’ll find established neighborhoods, generous lots and mature trees rather than new construction, which makes inspections important. The Highland Village/Lewisville Lake A-train station sits just east of I-35E, and the city is served by Lewisville ISD.

Lewisville
Lewisville has the widest range of homes and price points around the lake, from condos and townhomes to established neighborhoods and newer builds. Old Town has locally owned restaurants, Wayne Ferguson Plaza and the MCL Grand Theater, and the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA) covers about 2,000 acres of prairie, forest and wetlands.
With two A-train stations, Old Town and Hebron, plus I-35E and SH-121, Lewisville is one of the easier places in the county for commuting. Most of the city is in Lewisville ISD. Because the housing mix is so varied, two homes at the same price can differ a lot in age and upkeep, and I’ll help you compare them.

Denton
Denton is the county seat, built around the historic courthouse square with local restaurants, shops and live music. It’s home to the University of North Texas and Texas Woman’s University, which keeps the city lively year-round.
Homes range from older neighborhoods near the square to newer communities on the edges of town. Denton ISD serves most of the city. The A-train starts at the Downtown Denton Transit Center and runs south through the Lake Cities and Lewisville to DART, so commuting by rail is a real option.
Closer to the lake? How to choose your Lake Cities town
Before you choose
Try your weekday route. Test the drive when you normally travel. If rail could help, review DCTA’s stations and schedule before assuming it fits your commute.
Verify schools by address. City names don’t decide school districts. Flower Mound alone is split among Lewisville ISD, Northwest ISD and Argyle ISD. Confirm the assigned campuses for the specific property directly with the district.
Compare the full cost. Ask your lender for a property-specific estimate. Leave room for taxes, insurance, HOA dues, any MUD or PID assessments, and upkeep.
